Eco Club Activities:
1. Organisation of seminar, discussions, lectures and popular talks on specific environmental issues in the colleges.
· Tree planting and its significance
· Medicinal plants and their uses
· Health & Hygiene
· Conservation of natural resources
· Impact of pollution on environment
· Global warming & climate change
· Environmental disasters
· Hazardous waste
2. Organisation of awareness camps through field visits to sites of environmental importance, including polluted/degraded sites, wild life parks, sanctuaries etc. The awareness programme could also include the following
· Water conservation
· Prevention of air pollution
· Land degradation
· Noise pollution
· Waste management including recycling of paper and plastics
· Rainwater harvesting
· Epidemic diseases, Encephalitis, Chickengunya, Dengue, H1N1 virus
· Chemical fertilisers & pesticides
· Health effects due to heavy metals
3. Spreading awareness by organizing rallies, marches, human chains street theatre, speeches and debates and mobilizing public opinion in public places such as railway station, bus stands, agricultural markets and other crowded public areas.
4. Organize action based programmes such as
· Vermi-composting
· Organic farming
· Study of bio-diversity
· Plantation both within and outside colleges and maintenance of such plantations
· Cleanliness drives in colleges, public places, neighbourhood areas etc
· Trekking
5. Preparation of inventories of polluting sources and forwarding of the same to regulatory authorities regularly and assisting authorities in enforcement.
6. Organizing activities like painting, essay writing, debate, elocution, quiz related to environment conservation.
